Lo de recrear en cine la vida de figuras de la música es un tópico que, aunque suele asegurar el éxito o el interés ante un considerable número de espectadores, sobre todo aficionados obsesivos o los que están menos familiarizados con la biografía de los retratados, al final resulta un arma de doble filo porque como mínimo suele reducir momentos geniales de la cultura popular a una especie de caricatura. A mí personalmente se me hace más soportable un documental que un biopic, porque además es difícil escenificar las circunstancias difíciles de la vida real de la gente creativa en un metraje de aproximadamente hora y media. Todas estas películas de reciente producción sufren, para mi gusto, de ese problema pero en cualquier caso es mucho más recomendable, si acaso por ser una parte interesante de la historia del siglo pasado, pasar un rato observando estos experimentos que casi todo el resto del cine de usar y tirar que se estrena en salas. En este caso se trata de 'Miles Ahead' (2015), sobre los años de encierro libertino de Miles Davis, 'I Saw The Light' (2015) y 'Born To Be Blue' (2015), sobre los conflictos y excesos de Hank Williams y Chet Baker respectivamente y 'Elvis y Nixon' (2016) sobre el delirante encuentro de aquellos dos chalados. Al final lo mejor es hacerse con algunos de los buenos libros que sobre estos personajes se pueden encontrar. O simplemente escuchar sus músicas. Pero ninguno de los cuatros casos parece una verdadera pérdida de tiempo, pues todas tienen si acaso algún detalle apreciable. Y bueno, de todas formas por acá dejo constancia de la existencia de las cuatro por si a alguien interesan y pasaron desapercibidas.

For me personally I find it more bearable to watch a documentary than a biopic, because it is also difficult to dramatize the difficult circumstances of real life for creative people in about an hour and a half. All these recent films suffer, to my taste, from that problem but anyway are far more interesting, if only for being a part of the history of the last century, that almost all the rest of the films screening which are most often weak. In this case the films are 'Miles Ahead ', about the lost years of Miles Davis,' I Saw The Light 'and 'Born To Be Blue', on the conflicts and excesses of Hank Williams and Chet Baker respectively, and 'Elvis and Nixon' on the delirious meeting of two lunatics. In the end the best for those interested in those lives is to get to read some good books on the subject. Or simply listening to their music. But none of the four cases seem a total waste of time, since they all have some appreciable details. Anyway, over here I leave notice of the existance of these four films for if someone interested was unaware.
