Jem Cohen's New York Polaroids

Jem Cohen es un prestigioso cineasta experimental e independiente, casi heredero natural de los diarios fílmicos de Jonas Mekas. Durante cerca de tres décadas ha mantenido la costumbre de hacer fotos instantáneas en sus paseos por Nueva York, Polaroids en las que se deja notar su estilo fílmico y nos muestra una ciudad con cierto halo fantasmal y melancólico, transmitiendo irremediablamente la sensación de que fueran resultado del deambular insomne a deshoras.

Jem Cohen is a prestigious experimental and independent filmmaker, almost natural heir of Jonas Mekas' filmed journals style. For nearly three decades he has maintained the habit of taking snapshots on his way around New York City, Polaroids with some reminiscence of his film style and showing a city with some ghostly and melancholy halo, as if the pictures were the result of insomniac after hours wanderings.
