'Shots in The Dark' es un tributo a las músicas de Henry Mancini, editado en 1996 por la (entonces resucitada) casa de discos de música surf Del-Fi, en el que gran variedad de bandas, sobre todo relacionadas con ese estilo aunque no exclusivamente, interpretan algunos de los temas más significativos del conocido compositor de la sintonía de la Pantera Rosa o las bandas sonoras de Dias de Vino y Rosas y Desayuno con Diamantes (el popular 'Moonriver') entre muchas otras. Llegué a este disco por la versión de Poison Ivy (The Cramps) del tema de Peter Gunn, pero todo el disco al completo está bastante bien. En la portada el primer trabajo profesional conocido, entonces como modelo, de la actriz Rose McGowan, que posa en las fotos como una femme fatale.
'Shots in The Dark' is a tribute album to Henry Mancini, published in 1996 by the (resurrected then) surf music Del-Fi record label, in wich a lot of bands (mainly related to that style but not only) play some of the most significant songs by Mancini, the popular composer of the Pink Panther Theme or other TV and movie soundtracks like for Days of Wine and Roses or Breakfast at Tiffanny's (that famous Moonriver song...) among many others. I got to listen to this stuff due mainly to my curiosity for Poison Ivy's (of The Cramps) astonishing rendition of Peter Gunn's theme but the whole record is quite worth to listen to. In the artwork for the album the first known professional work, then as a model, by known actress Rose McGowan posing in the photos as a femme fatale.
