Un fenómeno particularmente difundido por la red es la misteriosa historia y el magnífico trabajo fotográfico de Vivian Maier, descubierta por casualidad cuando el joven John Maloof acudió a una subasta y compró una caja con cientos de negativos para un trabajo histórico sobre Chicago. Los negativos no le sirvieron para su fin pero resultaron ser fotos tomadas por una misma persona y una vez escaneados mostraron que eran de una calidad sorprendente. El joven empezó a obesionarse por el material y la persona mientras que colgaba ejemplos del resultado en un blog que terminó siendo un éxito. La vida de la autora, complicada de rehacer, le obligó a investigar minuciosamente al tiempo que lograba exhibir y difundir la obra. En la filmación Maloof relata todo el proceso y se desentraña la vida y carácter de aquella niñera que documentaba fotográficamente sin cesar de manera privada y que falleció justo antes de que el mundo empezara a saber de su existencia. Conmovedor y a ratos devastador documental.
One sensational finding emerged from the Internet era, wich could be enough to consider it a particular phenomenon, is the mysterious story and the magnificent photographic work of Vivian Maier, discovered by chance when a young guy called John Maloof went to an auction and bought a box with hundreds of negative to use some for a historical essay on Chicago. Negatives didn't serve him for his purpose but turned out to be photos taken by the same person and once scanned showed that they were surprisingly of strong good quality. The guy began then to get obsessive by the material and the person while posted examples of the results on a blog that ended up being a success. The author's life was complicated to rebuild and he began to investigate while he got to exhibit and showcase the work. In the film Maloof tells the whole process and reflects the life and character of that strange babysitter constantly documenting photographically but privately and who died just before the world began to know of her existence. Awesome but devastating documentary.
