Shirley Gunter (1934-2015) fue una de las primeras mujeres en formar parte de un grupo vocal de ese estilo conocido como doo-wop, siguiendo la estela de su hermano, uno de los integrantes de los conocidos Platters. Más tarde y con su nombre cada vez más destacado en los carteles evolucionó hacia un estilo más cercano al rythm'n'blues. Su popularidad decayó con los tiempos pero siguió cantando en Las Vegas, su último lugar de residencia, tanto en la iglesia local como en algunos espectáculos eventuales.
Shirley Gunter (1934-2015) was one of the first women to be part of doo-wop vocal groups encouraged by her brother, one of the members of the then well known Platters. Later, and with her name already well visible in the program, she evolved into a style closer to rythm'n'blues. Her popularity declined with the times but she continued singing, most lately in Las Vegas, her last place of residence, at a local church and some eventual shows.
