El astrágalo

Albertine Sarrazin ha sido a menudo comparada con ese otro escritor y pendenciero francés que fue Jean Genet. La historia cuenta que posiblemente Albertine fue fruto de la relación esporádica de su padre, que trabajaba entonces en Argelia, con una doncella española. Repudiada al nacer y criada en orfanato, al parecer fue luego adoptada por su padre y recaló en una vida burguesa en Francia, pero todo se fue al garete como resultado de la violación que sufrió de un familiar cuando solo contaba diez años. Su caracter se hizo rebelde contra la institución familiar y terminó con sus huesos en un severo reformatorio, lo que no hizo más que asalvajar su caracter, abrazando una vida de prostitución y semi-delincuencia que la hizo terminar en la cárcel. Mientras tanto iba plasmando sus impresiones en escritos, que con el tiempo habrían de convertirla en una referencia literaria. Fugada de la prisión, en su huida se rompió el hueso del pie conocido como astrágalo, lo que le dejó una cojera para el resto de su vida y daría título a su obra más conocida. También durante esa evasión fue recogida por un hombre, Julien, que habría de convertirse en el amor de su vida, una vida que terminaría prematuramente con 30 años por una negligencia médica. Esta película pone en imágenes, en un blanco y negro que remite a las imágenes que de ella se conservan, ese famoso libro escrito en prisión y que narra el tiempo que transcurre desde esa fuga hasta su aprehensión.

Albertine Sarrazin has often been compared to that other French writer and troublemaker who was Jean Genet. The story goes that possibly Albertine was the result of the sporadic relationship of his father, who was then working in Algeria, with a Spanish maid. Disowned at birth and raised in an orphanage, apparently was later adopted by her father and ended up in a bourgeois life in France, but everything went down the drain as a result of the rape she suffered from a relative when she was only ten years old. Her character became rebellious against the family institution and ended up with in a severe reformatory, which did nothing but shake her character, embracing a life of prostitution and delinquency that saw her ending up in jail. Meanwhile she kept reflecting her impressions in writing, what later on would turn her into a literary reference. In a runaway from prison she broke the foot bone known as Astragalus, leaving her with a limp for the rest of her life and giving title to her most famous work. Also during that escape she was picked up by a man, Julien, who would become the love of his life, a life that would end prematurely when she was 30 years old due to a medical malpractice. This film puts into images, in a black and white that recall the preserved portraits of Albertine, that famous book wich narrates the time from her runaway until her arrest.
