'I Always Wanted To Be a Gangster' (2007) is a cross-lives comedy divided into several chapters from writer, screenwriter, actor and director Samuel Benchetrit, whose latest film, entitled 'Asphalte' (2015) and set in a community of neighbors linked again with this subtle humor of the absurd as life itself so present here and related to the films of, for example, Jim Jarmusch, Roy Andersson or the Coen brothers. Benchetrit, still awaiting the premiere of 'Chien' with his actual girlfriend Vanessa Paradis, seems to keep on the habit of falling in love with French actresses and making them part of the cast of his films, as it happened with unfortunate Marie Trintignan ('John & Janis') or the one present in this, Anna Mouglalis, whose peculiar deep voice gives an extra to her character.
