Escenas de animación y documentales recrean en esta película la historia real y novela del ya fallecido poeta, escritor y periodista polaco Ryszard Kapuscinski, que fuera testigo directo de la guerra civil de Angola, conflicto relacionado con su independencia de Portugal y que sirvió de otro acicate más durante la Guerra Fría, Estados Unidos y la Unión Soviética codiciando controlar y defender una zona rica en petróleo y diamantes lo que propició un intento de invasión a cargo de Sudáfrica.
