Un acto controvertido

Christian Keisel y Corinna Engel son dos jóvenes artistas alemanes originarios de la provincia de Baviera quienes allá por el 2011, a través de una serie de vídeos y fotografías con el título 'Heroin Kids' ('chicos de la heroína'), ponían en imágenes una semi-ficción de adicción a las drogas duras y sexualidad juvenil como un acto artístico de provocación y reflejo de una emergente realidad alternativa, reminiscente por ejemplo del trabajo de Larry Clark o de aquella corriente de los 90s que se conoció como heroin chic paralela al auge de la música grunge. El libro sufrió intentos de bloqueo y algunas de las imágenes que colgaron en redes fueron retiradas o restringidas tras las quejas recibidas, teniendo que enfrentarse a varios procesos legales. Por si no fuera poco controvertido, en lo que parece una huida hacia delante, han convertido el tema en negocio y han lanzado posteriormente una línea de ropa bajo ese mismo nombre con base en Berlín, ciudad que empapelaron con anuncios y panfletos de la marca y que provocó cuantiosas quejas furibundas y denuncias a las que han tenido que hacer frente, al tiempo que la empresa parece crecer y se representan a ellos mismos y a las modelos en las fotos promocionales disfrutando de una vida salvaje y hedonista, carente de la moral común pero no exenta de la parte trágica y destructiva.

Christian Keisel and Corinna Engel are two German young artists, originally from the province of Bavaria who through videos and photographs with the title 'Heroin Kids' constructed around the 2010s a semi-fiction of teen sexuality and addiction to hard drugs as an artistic act of provocation and reflection of an emerging alternative reality, reminiscent of some other works like that of Larry Clark but also of what became known in the ninenties as heroin chic parallel to the rise of grunge music. The book was tried to banned and some of their work was removed from sites after the complaints, forcing them into some legal battles. As if it was not controversial enough, in what seems a deliberate forward step they have turned the subject into business and have launched a clothing line with the same name based in Berlin, a city that was papered with advertisements and pamphlets of the brand that caused numerous furious complaints and reports which they had to face at the same time that the company seems to grow and they present themselves and the models on promotional photos enjoying a wild and hedonistic life out of the common morals but not avoiding the downs and tragedies of it.
