Death Valley 69 es un inclasificable y difícil EP (duración extendida) publicado en los inicios de la icónica banda neoyorquina Sonic Youth, fuertemente influenciado por el movimiento No Wave y con la colaboración en el tema homónimo de una de las señas de identidad de esa escena, Lydia Lunch. Para el vídeo principal contaron con el polémico fotógrafo y director Richard Kern. La canción de marras se refería a la matanza perpetrada por los acólitos de Charles Manson en Agosto de 1969 y que supuso de alguna manera un impactante jarro de agua fría a las buenas intenciones de los años 60. El tema también fue incluido en el álbum que publicaron ese mismo año, Bad Moon Rising, que parecía tener una temática similar.
Death Valley 69 is an unclassifiable and difficult EP (extended play) published at the beginning of the career of iconic New York band Sonic Youth, strongly influenced by the No Wave movement and with the collaboration on the homonymous track of one of the hallmarks of that scene, Lydia Lunch. The main video was directed by the controversial photographer and video artist Richard Kern. The title track was a sort of sick resemblance of the Charles Manson sect killings in August of 1969, wich somehow meant a shocking end point of the good intentions party era of the '60s. It was also included in the album they published that same year, Bad Moon Rising, wich in its whole seemed to have a similar subject.
