Documental que repasa el extraño mundo y la ardua ascensión de Yayoi Kusama, de una mujer desconocida obsesionada por triunfar en el mundo del arte a la cotización y popularidad de sus obras. Emigrante anónima primero en Estados Unidos sufriendo desdén machista y plagios, luego de vuelta a Japón denostada por la sociedad conservadora, actualmente Kusama se ha convertido en una artista famosa que parece querer mostrar en sus pinturas, esculturas e instalaciones, llenas de repeticiones geométricas, su particular forma de mirar al mundo y un recurrente empeño de revertir sus traumas y delirios transformándolos en un bello entorno visual que, por otro lado, también genera controversia como fenómeno cultural popular.
Documentary that reflects the strange world and the arduous ascension of Yayoi Kusama, as an unknown woman obsessed with making it in the art world. First an anonymous emigrant in the United States suffering from male culture disdain and plagiarism, then back to Japan reviled by the conservative society, currently Kusama has become a famous artist, who seems to want to show in her paintings, sculptures and installations and repetitions her particular way of looking at the world and a recurring effort to reverse her traumas and hallucinations turning them into a beautiful visual environment that also finds some confrontation as a mass cultural phenomenon.
