Another aspect of the creative personal world of filmmaker David Lynch, such as photographer, publicist, producer and creator of television shows, visual designer, interior designer, promoter of transcendental meditation (!?), artist, organic coffee manufacturer (!) or responsible for websites (the interesting Interview Project) , has always been his interest in music, which otherwise should be fundamental for a film director anyway. Whether in collaboration with the main composer of his soundtracks, Angelo Badalamenti, or as producer, composer or promoter for another artist (for example the works for Fox Bat Strategy, Julee Cruise, Chrysta Bell or Lux Vixens), as a musician or part of a project (such as Blue Bob, 'Dark Night of the Soul', 'Industrial Symphony No. 1' or some songs in his 'Inland Empire' movie soundtrack) or composer of soundscapes for his exhibitions as an artist, his interest in music goes beyond the selection of songs for his films, something that anyhow always has been important in the plot or the development of his filmed stories even crediting himself as sound designer. Now he is about to launch a full-length album under his name, entitled 'Crazy Clown Time', which was recorded along sound engineer and musician Dean Hurley in the recording studio Lynch has in the basement of his house in Mulholand Drive and includes guests vocals by the singer of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Karen O, in a track. The music in this feature, which already had its previous breakthrough in the form of a single with a couple of songs and remixes that led him to hold a competition to select a pair of promo video clips (1 & 2), is what one could expect of this peculiar man.
