Robert Del Naja, a founding member of successful and prestigious band Massive Attack, initially became known in his native Bristol as a politicized graffiti artist using the nickname of 3D (name by which he is still known) and who Banksy mentioned as an influence, as well as participating in events with the Sound System known as The Wild Bunch along his future bandmates* (available out there if you search well some recording of those sessions). Also, besides playing with Massive Attack some of the most exciting music in recent years, he has been working on various aspects of the visual presentation of the band (in interviews he has expressed his differences with the record executives for not letting him enrich publications with the greatest possible care) and more recently his painting and artistic style appeared remarkably visible on the cover of the EP 'Splitting The Attom' (2009) or the band's last album to date, 'Heligoland' (2010). In 2007 he collaborated with the band UNKLE in the visual art that decorated the folder and booklet of the album 'War Stories', a work greatly inspired by the troubled times of the attack on the twin towers in New York and subsequent impact of war tactics and anti-war protests, a work that also inspired some related exhibition and resulted definitely in his formal jump to the Art Market. Most recently he has published a vinyl pressing with a new multimedia project under the name Battle Box and has published a book with samples of his paintings.
*The crew also included Tricky who even took part as a member in the first Massive Attack album before starting his solo career.
