Fedor Alexanovich es un artista, poeta y profesor de diseño teatral ucraniano. En este documental le vemos indagar sobre unas extrañas emisiones de radio frecuencia rusas apodadas "el pájaro carpintero ruso" que sucedieron durante la Guerra Fría y la relación de estas con la gigantesca torre y el extraño y colosal radar (el Duga) que existe en las inmediaciones de la tristemente célebre central nuclear de Chernobyl. Lo que cree descubrir en su investigación cobra una dimensión aún más siniestra de lo imaginado cuando empieza a atar cabos, hasta el punto que se asusta. Y en estas que para completar la historia la rebelión popular ucraniana anti-rusa sucede.
Fedor Alexanovich is an Ukrainian artist, poet and professor of theater design. In this documentary we see him investigate the strange Russian radio frequency emissions known as "the russian woodpecker" that happened during the Cold War and its relationship with the giant tower and the strange and colossal radar (the Duga) that exists next to the infamous Chernobyl nuclear power plant. What he believes to have discovered in his research begins to take an even more sinister dimension than he first imagined, to the point he gets scared. And to complete the picture right afterwards the anti-russian popular rebellion took place.
