Gene Krupa (1909-1973) fue un legendario baterista de Jazz, miembro destacado de la popular orquesta de Benny Goodman. Sus apariciones estelares en varias películas le convirtieron en una estrella musical del momento. Llegó a tener una notoria banda propia aunque ésta se deshizo cuando fue encarcelado un par de meses por posesión de marihuana, volviendo a trabajar con Benny Goodman y otras orquestas a su salida de prisión. En Hollywood le rindieron un homenaje en vida con un largometraje biográfico, 'The Gene Krupa Story' (1959) , que tuvo cierto éxito.
