Stefania Gurdowa (1888-1968) era hasta hace poco una desconocida fotógrafa polaca que retrató su sociedad más cercana (vecinos, comerciantes...) aunque preservó los negativos ocultos tras la pared de su ático sin que se conozca exactamente el motivo de tal secretismo. Gran parte de su trabajo se perdió tras su fallecimiento y posterior limpieza del hogar pero algunas de las imágenes en placas de cristal firmadas fueron encontradas hace once años en un viejo apartamento y pudieron salvarse y archivarse.
