Rena Effendi es una premiada fotógrafa de Azerbaiyán con un excelente portfolio documental. Su trabajo está principalmente basado en la repercusión de la explotación petrolífera en la vida de la gente, algo muy presente en su país que está en una de las zonas (limítrofe con Rusia, Armenia, Georgia e Irán) con mayores y más antiguos yacimientos lo que ha provocado numerosos conflictos y también graves repercusiones ambientales.
