'Tulsa' fue el trabajo que supuso el debut artístico del fotógrafo, director de cine y guionista Larry Clark. Las imágenes fueron el resultado de un periodo de ocho años de su vida (1963-1971) en el que retrató sus amistades y compañías de juventud en su ciudad natal, Tulsa (Oklahoma, EE.UU.), incluyendo entre sus costumbres el uso de la metanfetamina de lo cual el propio Clark (que entonces acababa de alcanzar la mayoría de edad) también participaba activamente.

The images were the result of a period of eight years of his life (1963-1971) in which he portrayed his companies as a youngster in his hometown of Tulsa (Oklahoma, U.S.A.) while gathering together, including in their habits the use of methamphetamine, Clark himself (who was then in his 20s) an active part of that behaviour.
