Chelsea Girl

Nico in a peculiar raw version of her song 'Chelsea Girls', performed in the Chelsea Hotel for a documentary on that famous Hotel. The track was inspired by the Warhol film of the same name starring Nico among other Warhol's Factory girls. It was included in her solo long play debut, 'Chelsea Girl' (1967), after being part of The Velvet Underground. In fact the band played there too and served some songs. This one was written by Lou Reed and Sterling Morrison.
At first a model she built a strange career out of experimental music and films and suffered a long battle against addictions. She became an iconic name in the underground cultural scene of the '60s and legend has it that Iggy Pop was introduced to the misteries of sex by her.
In one of those sinister jokes of life, she died in an accident with her bike in Ibiza after she was carrying on with life finally clean of narcotics.
