Miron Zownir, the radical eye
Miron Zownir se dedica a la fotografía desde la década de los 70s, años en los que retrató el agitado, anarquista, nihilista y radical ambiente del punk. Nacido en Alemania, en los 80s emigró a Estados Unidos, estableciéndose por más de una década en Nueva York, introduciendo su cámara en los ambientes más permisivos y extremos de la subcultura, pero también captando los márgenes y víctimas de la sociedad de consumo. Los protagonistas de su trabajo en esa época son los sin-techo, los performers, chaperos, putas, yonquis o los participantes del ambiente liberal como el cada vez más visible ambiente gay o los participantes en orgías antes de la irrupción del SIDA. Otras residencias posteriores de Zownir ("el poeta de la fotografía radical" según el autor norteamericano Terry Southern) fueron la Unión Sovietica (que describió como "el infierno de Dante" en ese momento) o Berlín. También es un reputado cortometrajista y escritor de ficción.
Miron Zownir is a dedicated freelance photographer since the 70s, years in which he portrayed the restless, anarchic, nihilistic punk radical movement development. Born in Germany, in the 80s he emigrated to the United States, settling for more than a decade in New York, entering with his camera the most permissive ends of the subculture, but also capturing the margins and the victims of consumer society. The individuals who appear in his work at that time are the homeless, the performers, hustlers, hookers, junkies and mostly people of liberal environments like the participants in the increasingly visible gay parties or in all kind of orgies just before the devastation of AIDS. Other later residences of Zownir (once labelled by american author Terry Southern as "the poet of radical photography") have been the Soviet Union (which he described as "Dante's Inferno" at that time) and Berlin. He is also a renowned short film director and a writer of fiction novels.
