Zanele Muholi is a southafrican photographer and activist. Her 'Faces and Phases' wide series is dedicated, as most of her work, to fight against the violence and hatred suffered by the homosexual black community. One of the main motivations of the vast collection of portraits of lesbians is to make them visible to encourage others in the same situation and help for the common acceptance of that reality.
