La fotógrafa australiana Claire Martin (representada por la Agencia VU) estuvo retratando a integrantes de la comunidad de los bajos fondos del East Side de Vancouver en Canadá, un área de exclusión social en el que la población dentro de sus carencias y situaciones extremas disfruta, pese a sus limitaciones, de la poca libertad que allí encuentran. La fotógrafa, que ha realizado este proyecto con el sentido de empatía que da haber conocido de cerca situaciones similares, logró con esta serie y otra similar una beca de la Fundación Inge Morath en el 2010 entre otros reconocimientos.
