Jindřich Štyrský (1899-1942) was a Czechoslovakian photographer and painter, involved from its foundation with the surrealist movement, whose images are best understood from Marcel Duchamp's artistic idea of "found object" as Štyrský used to capture fragments of scenes from reality decontextualizing and framing the subject and therefore creating a new reality. Applying that seemingly simple in its execution action, although full of a poetic sense, showcases, mannequins, urban furniture or fairground attractions were gifted then with the mystery of Art. Thus endowed a certain strangeness and photographic expressivity to objects and sequences of daily life that would otherwise go completely unnoticed for the artistic eye.
