Dave Grohl (Nirvana, Foo Fighters) adquirió para su propio Estudio de grabación un pedazo de historia de la música popular cuando se hizo con la enorme mesa de mezclas analógica Neve 8028 que pertenecía a los Estudios Sound City, donde Nirvana grabó el 'Nevermind'. Sound City fue un negocio de grabación californiano, chapado a la antigua y venido a menos por los métodos digitales y el declive de la industria, en el que artistas como Fleetwood Mac, Neil Young, Johnny Cash, Dr. John, Nick Cave. Fear, The Black Crowes, Metallica, Rage Against The Machine, Nine Inch Nails, Queens Of The Stone Age, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club o algunos iconos del heavy metal ochentero entre muchos otros probaron sus exclusivos métodos de registro, trabajo distendido, ambiente familiar, producción minuciosa, encierro creativo y ambiente decadente, cuando las grabaciones duraban semanas y las expectativas de ganancia permitían inversiones costosas en soportes físicos de música. El mismo Dave Grohl se ha encargado de dirigir y producir el documental 'Sound City', sobre la historia de su consola y el Estudio que la albergaba. También, con la ayuda del resto de los Foo Fighters, ha estado involucrado en la grabación de un álbum en el que participan otros músicos que pararon en algún momento por el mismo sitio y algunos amigos, incluido su ídolo Paul McCartney (no se espere de la junta un tema meloso al estilo de éste último), utilizando para ello, como no, su costoso capricho analógico.

Sound City was a Californian old-fashioned recording business, somehow overcomed by digital methods and the decline of music industry in which artists like Fleetwood Mac, Neil Young, Johnny Cash, Dr. John, Nick Cave, Fear, The Black Crowes, Metallica, Rage Against The Machine, Nine Inch Nails , Queens of the Stone Age, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club or some of those peculiar eighties heavy metal bands among others tested their unique methods, including relaxed work, familiar hospitality, meticulous production, creative confinement and decadent atmosphere, when recordings lasted weeks allowed by great expectations in investments in physical music media. Grohl himself was responsible for directing and producing the documentary 'Sound City', about the history of the Studio that housed his deck. Also, with the help of the rest of the Foo Fighters, he has been involved in the recording of an album with other musicians who stopped at some point in the same place and some friends, including his idol Paul McCartney (don't expect to hear a melliflous love theme), using for it, of course, his expensive analog item.
