Helmut Herfelzd, artista comunista y fundador del club dadá de Berlín, practicó un arte antipropaganda como forma de lucha contra el auge del fascismo, lo que le valió un intento de asesinato del que consiguió huir. Adoptó desde joven el nombre más anglófilo de John Heartfield y trabajó en diseño y arte visual para diversas publicaciones, así como escenógrafo para Bertolt Brecht entre otras ocupaciones. Sus postales activistas han permanecido como un ejemplo pionero en el uso del fotomontaje.
Helmut Herfelzd, communist artist and founder of the Berlin Dada club, practiced a propaganda art against fascism, which earned him an assassination attempt from which he managed to escape. At a young age he adopted the most Anglophile name of John Heartfield and worked on design and visual art for various publications as well as set designer for Bertolt Brecht among other activities. His warning postcards against Nacional socialism have remained as a pioneer example in the use of photomontage.
