Beth Lesser editaba la revista canadiense Reggae Quarterly (por lo visto en la actualidad escribe eventualmente para la revista francesa Natty Dread) y viajó frecuentemente con su marido (que tenía un programa de radio donde pinchaba reggae) a Jamaica pues necesitaban discos para la emisora y fotos y entrevistas para la revista. Se encontraron con la explosión del estilo dancehall. Sus fotografías han sido publicadas recientemente en un libro titulado 'Dancehall: The Story of Jamaican Dancehall Culture' ('Dancehall: La historia de la cultura dancehall jamaicana').
