Excelente película basada en la novela de Matt Bondurant 'The Wettest County of the World', novela que ficcionaba la leyenda real de su familia que resistió los embites de la ley contra su destilería clandestina a principios del siglo pasado durante la ley seca estadounidense. Con guión escrito por Nick Cave y dirigida por su amigo John Hillcoat es la mejor de sus colaboraciones. Cave ha compuesto igualmente la música junto a su compañero de fechorías Warren Ellis (quienes juntos se han convertido ya en un equipo compositor de bandas sonoras) con versiones incluidas de Velvet Underground, Captain Beefheart, Link Wray o Townes Van Zandt, con las colaboraciones de Mark Lanegan, Willie Nelson o Emmylou Harris entre otros.
