Jeffrey Lee Pierce, líder de la influyente y respetada banda pionera del punk blues The Gun Club, falleció en 1996 a los 37 años de edad tras una larga trayectoria de abuso del alcohol y las drogas. Cypress Grove es un amigo y colaborador suyo que encontró una cassette con tres canciones que ambos preparaban pero nunca editaron. Al ser una grabación casera la cinta tenía una calidad de sonido pésima y se propuso hacer algo diferente con ellas. Así es como esas canciones y algunas otras que se fueron añadiendo han sido ahora interpretadas y grabadas para este disco por artistas como Nick Cave, Debbie Harry, Raveonettes, Lydia Lunch, Mark Lanegan & Isobel Campbell...Los temas principales (que se repiten en interpretaciones diferentes) son geniales. Una auténtica gozada.

Cypress Grove is a friend of his who found a cassette with three songs that both prepared but never released. Being a home recorded tape the sound quality was terrible and he wanted to do something different with it. This is how the songs and some others that were added have now been performed and recorded for this album by artists like Nick Cave, Debbie Harry, Raveonettes, Lydia Lunch, Mark Lanegan & Isobel Campbell ... The main themes (repeated in different interpretations) are great. A truly enjoyeable project.
